Pre-school staff –

Kiera Boyle – Pre-school Leader

I have a Level 3 CYPW-Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Early Years Pathway). I enjoy working with children because I get great satisfaction out of seeing children progress. Witnessing them being happy and enjoying playing at the pre-school is so rewarding and I get to interact with them as they play. I especially enjoy helping children to become intrinsically motivated and independent.  My favourite book to read with the children is ‘This is the Bear’ by Helen Craig. I live with my family in Knebworth.  I enjoy catching up with friends and I often go out for dinner and to the cinema. I enjoy spending my Sundays having a big meal with all of my family.

Jo Critchley – Deputy Leader

I joined St Michael’s Pre-school as Deputy Leader in September 2017.  I have a Level 3 CYPW -Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce (Early Years Pathway), which I gained in 2013.  Early years teaching has been part of my life for many years and is something I have enjoyed immensely.  Every day is different working with children, as they face challenges to understand and progress on their educational journey, which is something I feel privileged to be part of.  I live in the village with my partner and two children, one of which attended the pre-school and inspired my journey into early years.  I enjoy walking and going out to dinner with my friends.  My favourite book from childhood is ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ by Judith Kerr.  I love sharing this book; it always creates lots of opportunity for discussion, as well as, laughter at the possibilities of this ever happening in real life.

Kirsty Citrano – Administration

I joined the pre-school in February 2016 and I am responsible for billing, finances and other administrative tasks.  I usually work from home but I often pop in with the morning post or when required to support staff in the day to day running of the pre-school.  I have two sons, the youngest having recently left St Michael’s Pre-school to go up to ‘big school’.  My favourite children’s book is ‘The Runway Dinner’ by Allan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman, which was also one of my eldest son’s favourites when he was younger.

Amy Hazell – Pre-school Assistant

I joined St Michael’s pre-school in September 2018. I love working as an early year’s practitioner, as I get a great sense of achievement seeing children grow and learn through play. I am currently working through my level 3 CYPW- Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Early Years Pathway) after gaining my level 2 in 2017. I live in Old Knebworth with my family. My favourite book to read with the children is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ written by Michael Rosen, I love reading this book as it’s the perfect opportunity for the children to join in with the words and act out what is happening within the book. I enjoy going out for dinner with friends and spending time with family.

Christy Winn – Pre-school Assistant

I hold a Level 3 Early Educator Diploma, which I gained in 2017 after deciding to pursue my dream to work in education. I absolutely love working with children in their vital early years and love watching them grow and learn in our lovely little setting. I find working in childcare so rewarding – There is so much to learn from working with young children!

I am a mummy and (step mum) to two lovely boys and we live in Stevenage. We are an active family who enjoy being outside taking our bulldog for long nature walks and connecting with natural environment on hiking and camping trips.

Alison Gunnell – Pre-school Assistant

I joined St Michael’s Pre-school in March 2017.  I have completed an NNEB diploma in childcare and also an HNC in childhood studies.  I previously worked as a nanny for 5 years and then worked alongside health visitors, as a community nursery nurse for 9 years.  I have always loved working with young children.  Being able to see them grow and develop, knowing that I have been a part of their journey.  I believe very strongly in children learning through play and feel that sharing and reading books with a child is really important for their development.  I live in Woolmer Green with my partner and our two children, Nathan and Lily.  I love spending time with my family.  We go on regular trips to the woods, either on our bikes or walking and enjoy  visiting grandparents who live by the seaside!
