Where pre-school children learn through play

The Pre-school is a registered charity, and as such we are always looking for new ways to help raise money to improve the resources available to the children. We list some book recommendations on our pages and if you choose to purchase something, or any other items while visiting Amazon after clicking on any of the links, then we receive a referral fee.

The Pre-school Committee

The Pre-school is a charitable organisation, and as such the staff, the equipment and all the resources are paid for using the fees and grants received, as well as by all the fundraising we do throughout the year. An annually elected Management Committee is needed to manage the Pre-school, its finances and staff. They also take care of the “behind the scenes” administration which helps to make everything run smoothly.

The Committee is made up of parents whose children currently attend the Pre-school, or have done so in the past, and representatives from the school and local community. Parents who volunteer to be on the Committee find it challenging, rewarding and often fun. It is a great way to get to know other parents and the staff, to find out more about what goes on in Pre-school, and to have a voice in deciding how things are done. There are two Committee meetings held each school term at a member’s home, as well as social events from time to time.

The next AGM will be held in November, and many of the children of our current Committee will have moved on to the Reception Class by then. As a result we will be looking for volunteers to come forward to take part in a reorganised committee in whatever capacity they can. We know that among the parents of our children there is always a wealth of experience and a wide range of skills, whether it be secretarial, financial, administrative, managerial, or just good with people. Most importantly we want people who show enthusiasm and interest in matters which could benefit the children and the Pre-school as a whole.

You can find out more from any member of the Committee, or send us an email using the Contact Us page.

Pre-school Assistant - Kiera Boyle

I enjoy working with children because I get great satisfaction out of seeing children progress. Seeing them happy and enjoying playing at the pre-school is so rewarding and I get to interact with them as they play. I especially enjoy reading stories with the children and my favourite book to read with them is 'The Gruffalo'.

I live at home with my parents and my teenage brother. I enjoy catching up with friends and I often goes out for dinner and to the cinema. I enjoy spending my sundays having a big family meal with all of my family.

Administration Assistant - Louisa Edwards

Louisa joined the Pre-school in October 2007 as our Administration Assistant. She usually works from home but can be found helping in the pre-school at least once a week, where she enjoys chatting and playing with the children.

She is married with one boy and one girl, and has an extended family that includes 15 nieces and nephews ranging from 0 to 22 years old. Louisa enjoys going to the cinema with friends and likes to read a variety of authors including Terry Pratchett, Marian Keyes and John Grisham.
