About the Pre-school
At St. Michael's Pre-school we offer the highest standards of Pre-school care and education. We provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment where your child will be given plenty of opportunities to develop to their full potential at their own pace.
The ethos of our Pre-school is 'learning through play'. Although learning is carefully planned and structured, the emphasis is always on play and having fun. We enjoy close links with the main Primary School and plan with the Reception teacher to ensure continuity and progression throughout the Foundation Stage.
Through play, children are able to express themselves and explore their environment, often describing and discussing what they are doing but also being reflective and quiet in their play. Our staff help the children extend and develop their spontaneous play and offer them planned play-based activities.
In 2006 we were proud to be awarded the Hertfordshire Quality Standards (HQS) accreditation, confirming that we are one of the best providers for young children in the county. We were also very delighted with the results of our Ofsted report from April 2007, particularly our outstanding partnership with parents.
We take children from the age of 2 years until they are old enough to start Reception Class in a Primary school.

St. Michael's Woolmer Green Church of England Primary School is located in Woolmer Green, Hertfordshire, on the London Road (B197) that connects Knebworth and Welwyn Village. The Pre-school occupies an area at the far end of the main Primary School.
Woolmer Green enjoys the benefits of a semi-rural location and a friendly community. The village has won numerous awards in the Hertfordshire Village of the Year competition recently, including overall winner for 2008, Most Improved Community Life 2006, the Young People category 2006 and the Business category 2005.
